My Ideal Dart

As posted to the NIC Zone discussion group:

Let’s keep the conversation rolling.

What is your ideal dart?

dartsmithingI pull another blank from my box. It’s ends are cut square and neat, with no burrs. I swirl my meltin’ gun around one end, and form an accurately centered hole the precise width and depth needed for a #8 washer and some glue. I inhale sharply though my nose, but instead of acrid burning plastic, I smell only the scent of lilac floating in through an open window on a cool breeze.

The Blessed Handle

June 23rd, 2015

captainhandleLong ago, our people journeyed far to the west, to take up arms with our brothers, the Dwarves. After traveling for 40 days and 40 nights, the brotherhood of the gnome arrived in the shire of Pitt, and they did behold that their hosts served only koolaid and neutral grain spirits. This disturbed the brothers, who found the ways of their hosts strange and not in keeping with the sabbath. And so they went to the inn, and asked the innkeeper for a cask of his finest rum. The innkeeper confided in them that he had several bottles taken from the private reserve of a deceased sea captain, and he did produce an enormous glass vessel of the spirit, and all was well. As they walked back to their camp, the gnomes with the dwarves, they heard the call of the watchmen, who were closing the city gate. When they arrived, one of the brothers hoisted the glass vessel, and in his exuberance he allowed it to slip from his hands, and the jar fell heavily upon the paving stones in the street.

LGLF at Hell Before Halloween

26 hours of driving, 6 hours of nerfing, 2 nights of heavy drinking, one night of moderate drinking, 12 welts (one having broken the skin), one really hot Canadian customs official, one less-than-amused American customs official, four hundred darts, one really big opossum, 6 orders of hash browns, 5 A Capella renditions of Mars Bringer of War, 2 hookahs, and one hell of a hangover later, and we’re back from our four day trip into the frozen north.  And holy hell was it worth it.

Thumb-SLAP

July 2nd, 2011
By Langley

Just some photos of the new SLAP (Standard LGLF Armament Prototype).  It’s called the Thumb-SLAP because of the thumb-hole stock design.  This design uses the suicide trigger.  Note that the pump handle goes all the way around the plunger tube, and does not extend past the coupler.

I plan to eventually construct a variant of this blaster which is similar to the Rainbow Pump in appearance, and write it up for RyanMcNumbers’ homemade contest on Nerfhaven.  Some permutation of this blaster will also go on to be the official loaner/backup blaster of the LGLF

Photo gallery after the jump.
